Upcoming Milligan University events will include a Faculty Piano Recital Sunday at 4:15 p.m. by Dr. David Brickle. The concert will be held in Milligan’s Seeger Chapel, Mary B. Martin Auditorium.
Katie Cochran will present a senior voice recital Friday, April 8, at 7:30 p.m. in the Mary B. Martin Auditorium.
Soprano Katie Cochran, who hails from Johnson City, is a double major in Music Performance and Worship Leadership, and has participated in Milligan’s Chapel, Concert Choir, Heritage, and Women’s Chorale, as well as productions of The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Songs for a New World, and Children of Eden. She has studied voice with Dr. Carrie Klofach and Prof. Jamie Buxton. She was the 2020 recipient of the Outstanding Music Student Award.
The Johnson City Symphony Orchestra will present “A New Hope: The Music of John Wiliams” April 23 at 7 p.m. in the Mary B. Martin Auditorium.
The Milligan Rise Above Conference will be held April 7 from 2 to 8 p.m.
This conference is a culminating event for students who have been engaged in mentored research. Presentations will showcase the scholarly and creative research from all disciplines and majors. Both graduate and undergraduates are encouraged to attend and present. Any faculty-sponsored research project, proposal, or demonstration is welcome. The theme of the 2022 conference is Caring for God’s Creation. The conference will include presentations and a poster conference starting at 2 p.m. and ending with a faculty lecture at 6 p.m.
The faculty lecture will be presented by Hongyou Lu, program development associate for engineering and instructor in Mandarin Chinese and sociology. He will present the 2022 RISE Above Faculty Lecture on “Energy and Sustainability: A Focus on the Industry Sector.”
