Tons of excitement filled the air at Elizabethton High School on Monday morning as the Elizabethton Lady Cyclone basketball team filled the lower luggage department of a Christian Tours bus and departed from the high school on their way to Murfreesboro looking for their shot at the Class 3-A BlueCross Basketball State Championship.
Their first game will be at 10 a.m. central, 11 a.m. eastern on Wednesday morning when they take on the Upperman Lady Bees at Middle Tennessee State University’s Murphy Center.
The Class 3-A tournament kicks off officially tomorrow evening when Page opens with Dyer County followed by Greeneville taking on J. South Side.
On Wednesday following the Cyclones will be Creek Wood and Fayette-Ware.
Elizabethton earned the trip to the championship with a 61-19 spanking of the Lady Cougars of Northview Academy in the sectional contest on Saturday.
Even though the Star doesn’t print again until Saturday, all games will be covered and will be available online at the Star’s website, www.elizabethton.com.
The Cloudland Lady Highlanders will also be playing in the Class 1-A championship which begins on Thursday.
