‘Dogs roll past Black Knights on Senior Night

Hampton continues to prepare for a strong run in the postseason as they played host to the Chuckey Doak Black Knights inside VanHuss-White Gym on Senior Night for the Bulldogs.
The outcome was just what the home team needed as Hampton took care of business with a 78-60 victory over their visitors from Greeneville.
Hampton does what Hampton does best in the opening half as Coach Ned Smith’s team attacked the Black Knight defense and in the process built a 46-31 lead by the time intermission arrived.
Cadon Buckles was absolutely unstoppable for the ‘Dogs as he poured in 17 of his game-high 26 in the first 16 minutes. Logan Whitehead and Michael Harrison also had a solid half recording eight points each.
Hampton’s two big posts, Hayden Campbell and Conor Burleson came through as well in the half scoring four points each.
Cadin Tullock scored 12 of his team-high 20 points in the half hoping to give Chuckey Doak a shot in the second half of play.
That wouldn’t be the case however as Hampton kept coming as Buckles scored nine in the third period to help ensure his team would maintain control of the contest.
Harrison dropped in seven points in the second half with Burleson adding six.
Aside from Buckles, three other ‘Dogs reached double figures as Harrison totaled 15 points, while 10 points apiece was added by Whitehead and Burleson.
Harrison and Morgan Lyons pulled down seven rebounds each to lead in that category. Campbell added five boards.
Buckles and Lyons also dished out four assists apiece with Campbell adding three blocks.
Christopher Derry joined Tullock in double figures with 18 for the Black Knights.
