David “Coolie” Estep, 91, Elizabethton, passed away Monday, January 17, 2022, at his residence after an extended illness. He was born April 14, 1930, in Carter County, to the late William & Fannie Parker Estep. He was an electrician and was a retired employee of North American Rayon Corporation. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, fishing, gardening and being with his church family. He was a member of Hampton First Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife: Ollie June Campbell Estep and a son: David Estep, Jr.
Survivors include his daughters: Margaret Luttrell, Judy Estep and Sandra Perkins. Four Grandchildren: Jennifer (Chris) Carter, Norman Markland, Jr & wife Linda, Lisa Norris and Brandy Holder. Five Great Grandchildren: Cassie Graybeal, Russell Carter, Brianna Markland, Seth Carter and Malachi Higgenbotham. His Special Friends: Glen Nave and Jimmy Hopson. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
Graveside Service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, January 21, 2022, in Highland Cemetery with his Grandson Rev. Norman Markland, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow the service. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Honorary Pallbearers will be his church family. Friends may register their presence at the funeral home from 12 Noon until 5 p.m. Thursday, family will not be present.
