A Telford man has been charged with rape, following a joint investigation between the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and the Greeneville Police Department.

According to information from Sheriff Keith Sexton, Arron Joe Massey, 26, was arrested after investigators discovered that Massey had sexual contact with a mentally challenged person, who was not capable of consenting.

Massey was taken into custody in Greeneville last evening and booked into the Washington County Detention Center. He was being held on a $50,000 bond and will appear in Sessions Court Wednesday at 10:30 am.
