James Lewis Holmes, 88, of Johnson City, Tenn., passed away on Monday, December 27, 2021, at his home. He was a son of the late Rev. Everett and Rose Marie Holmes, born to them on December 3, 1933 in Houston, Texas. He united in marriage to Barbara and to this union, four daughters were born.
James proudly served his country for 20 years in the United States Navy and United States Coast Guard. He attended Central Baptist Church in Johnson City.
James is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Holmes; his daughters, Cindy Miller, Deborah Hubbard (Michael), Stephanie Holmes-Julian (Jonathan), and Kimberly A. Wilson (Barton Drew); his grandsons, Sonny, Christopher, and Nicholas Hubbard, Garrison and Wyatt Julian, and Hudson Wilson; a granddaughter, Suesanna Julian; and two great-grandsons.
A graveside service for James Lewis Holmes will be conducted on Monday, January 3, at 1 p.m. in the Mountain Home National Cemetery with Rev. Donald Julian officiating.
