Chad Lewis has announced his candidacy for Carter County Trustee in the 2022 election primary.
“God has blessed Carter County with supportive people who make this a wonderful place to live. One of the best attributes of this community is the people who live in it. The pride and compassion in our close-knit community are traits that I am thankful for each day. As a life-long resident, husband, father, local small business owner, and coach, I am honored to call Carter County home,” Lewis said when announcing his candidacy this week.
A Carter County native, Lewis grew up in Lynn Valley, the son of Randal and Kim Lewis. He has a sister, Andrea Lewis. He attended Hunter Elementary and Unaka High School. At Unaka High, Lewis was a member of the basketball, baseball, and golf teams. In his senior year he was chosen as Mr. Unaka by faculty and staff and received the Joe E. Taylor Citizenship Award.
After graduating high school with honors, Lewis attended King College, where he played baseball, later transferring to Walters State Community College, where he graduated with a degree in production horticulture. While attending Walters State, he was a member of the golf team for two years.
After graduation Lewis was employed at the Elizabethton Golf Course for two years. Following the birth of his first child, Grace, he worked in sales for five years, receiving a National Top Salesman of the Year award two years in a row. Following the birth of his second child, Carter, Lewis changed career paths and began his own lawn care, landscaping, and hardscapes business, something he has been doing for seven years. “While owning my own business, I have learned how to effectively supervise employees, manage money flow, and procure business contracts. I am constantly interacting with customers and have proven myself to be reliable, trustworthy, and hardworking in my everyday work,” said Lewis.
Lewis currently lives in Lynn Valley with his wife, Brittney, and children, Grace, Carter, and Millie. The family attends Southside Christian Church.
Brittany is a registered nurse and has assisted with the girls basketball team at Unaka High, works with the youth group at church, is a member of the Elizabethton High School Community Advisory Board, and volunteers as a camp nurse at Appalachian Christian Camp. “We support all local sports with our three children,” Lewis said.
“As I continue to work with the public on a daily basis, I aspire to see our community thrive. With the desire to help, listen to, and serve the people of Carter County, I am excited to be a candidate for the office of Trustee of Carter County in the May 2022 primary election,” Lewis said.
