The offices at the Carter County Courthouse and the City of Elizabethton will be closed Thursday and Friday for Thanksgiving. Also, all state and federal offices will be closed Thursday.
Because of the closings, the garbage collection in the city has been altered. Monday and Tuesday collections will be collected on Monday; Wednesday and Thursday collections will be picked up on Tuesday; and Friday will be collected on Wednesday.
State offices will remain closed on Friday as will most federal offices.
Financial offices will be closed Thursday, but will reopen on Friday. Some businesses will be open Thursday as a forerunner to Black Friday, when most businesses will open for the start of the holiday shopping season.
All city and county schools will be closed Thursday and Friday for the holiday.
