Roy Lee Fleming, 87, of Elizabethton, Tenn., passed away Tuesday, November 16, 2021, at his residence. He was born in Clintwood, Va., to the late Russell Fleming and Goldie Fleming.
Roy retired from American Air Filter and was a member of Pleasant Beach Baptist Church. Roy never met a stranger, he was a fantastic person and wonderful father. He always found a way to help anyone he could.
Roy enjoyed working on cars and could build anything he wanted.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 33 years, Melba Fleming; son-in-law, Randy Warren; and siblings, Cecil Fleming, Dempsey Fleming, Irwin Fleming and Everett Fleming.
Those left to cherish his memory include his three daughters, Wilma Brackins and husband Eugene, Priscilla Tate and Shirley Warren; siblings, Zette Kenner, Dorothy Mullins, Linda and husband Lawrence Mullins, Willie Fleming and Linda Fleming, Vonde Mullins, Logan Fleming and Katherine Fleming; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; best friends, Scottie Hardin and Ed and Dean Quinn; special loving companion, Bobbie Eller; two special raccoons, one cat, a groundhog; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service to honor the life of Roy Lee Fleming will be conducted at 1 p.m. Sunday, November 21, in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Rev. Jeremy Burleson officiating. The family will receive friends between the hours of 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Sunday, prior to the service. The graveside service and committal will follow at Happy Valley Memorial Park, Johnson City. Active pallbearers are Jason Brackins, Michael Brackins, Jordan Green, Mickey Holcomb, Jeff Smithpeters, Conner Brackins, Eugene Brackins, Brian Smithpeters and Travis Fortner. The family would like to give a special thanks to Caris Healthcare and Nurse Dusty for all their great help, support and loving care during this difficult time.
