Second and third graders at Eastside Elementary presented the musical Squirm! written by John Jacobson and John Higgins for parents, grandparents, and friends Tuesday in the school’s gym.
The second graders from Ms. Ivester’s, Ms. Richmond’s, and Ms. Troutman’s class performed the songs Cool to be a Worm and A Snake in the Grass while joining with the third-grade classes to perform the musical’s title song Squirm!
Third graders from Ms. Johnson’s, Ms. Lucas’s, and Mr. Wingate’s classes took the stage to perform Give a Bat a Call and A Spider Song for their selections.
The musical was conducted by Erin Keene and Sarah Baker.
Students gave a special shoutout to Emily Orsburn for work on decorations and the stage; Coach Horne for allowing the students to rehearse in the gym; maintenance for setting up the risers; and Principal Travis Hurley for understanding the importance of and allowing the school music performances.
