Main Street Elizabethton is inviting children to trick-or-treat downtown on Friday.
“This year we are hosting it on a Friday to better accommodate with our downtown merchant schedules and provide options for the community for the entire weekend,” said Courtney Bean, director of Main Street Elizabethton.
“Our downtown merchants as well as non-profit organizations are the ones that hand out candy to trick-or-treaters throughout the downtown area. It’s a great event for Elizabethton because we usually have anywhere from 2,000 to 4,000 community members participate.”
The event will be outside rain or shine thanks to the canopies throughout downtown. “So come out dressed in your best Halloween costumes,” she said.
Weather permitting, Elizabethton’s Parks and Recreation will host Boo on the Block on Armed Forces Drive.
“Fall is such a wonderful time for our downtown area, and this trick-or-treat event allows everyone from our community to come and celebrate and for our merchants to be able to give back,” Bean said. “Overall it is just an event where everyone can come out and enjoy a fun, festive time.”
Christmas holidays start around Nov. 1, “so our downtown trick-or-treating event is a great wrapup to our fall season,” she said.
Downtown Elizabethton’s trick-or-treat event is free for all to enjoy and will take place from 3 until 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
