Covid-19 numbers continue to drop, TDH data shows

The Tennessee Department of Health released their weekly installment of statistics regarding Covid-19 in the region of Northeast Tennessee on Friday.
The region reported 191 new cases and four deaths in the seven-day period, including 61 cases in Sullivan County; 49 in Green County; 37 in Washington County; 25 in Hawkins County; 11 in Carter County; and six each in Johnson and Unicoi counties.
Sullivan County reported three deaths and Green County, one death.
Vaccination rates continue to increase in the region. Washington and Sullivan counties continue to have the highest vaccination rates with just under 54 percent for Washington and just over 47 percent for Sullivan.
Unicoi County reports almost 47 percent of the population having been vaccinated, while Greene County reports 41 percent and Hawkins County, 38.5.
The counties with the lowest vaccination rates continue to be Carter and Johnson County, at 35 and 33 percent respectively.
Since the pandemic began, the region of Northeast Tennessee has recorded 86,318 cases and a total of 1,409 deaths, while Carter County has reported 10,201 cases and 204 deaths from Covid-19.
