As summer begins to draw to a close, football season in the area is fast approaching. With that being said, two groups in the area have planned a fun-filled day next weekend to help raise money for the upcoming campaign.
The Happy Valley Youth Club has teamed up with the Happy Valley Gridiron Club, which is the organization affiliated with Happy Valley High School football, to host the first annual Football Season Kickoff Carnival on Saturday, July 31st.
The Carnival will take place at the football stadium at Happy Valley High School, and will feature a selection of nine carnival games, inflatables, a dunk tank, concessions, and two different competitions open for anyone to participate.
The president of the Happy Valley Youth Club, Justin Clifton, spoke more in-depth about the games featured in next Saturday’s carnival, saying, “We will have a balloon pop, ring toss, water coin drop, football toss, milk bottle toss, putt-putt, and a dunk tank.
“Tickets for the carnival games will be $1 apiece, or you will be able to buy twelve tickets for $10.”
But games will not be the only thing featured in next Saturday’s event, as Clifton explained there will be two separate competitions as well as a raffle that people can enter.
“We will also be hosting a punt, pass, and kick competition as well as a hot dog eating competition. Entrance for both contests will be $5, and each competition will be split up by age groups, starting with ages 5-8, then ages 9-11, 12-14, 15-18, and then 19 and up.
“Along with all of these things, we are also going to be a 50/50 drawing, and will also be having concessions open during the event.”
A fun day is planned for anyone to enjoy, all of the proceeds will be going to the clubs hosting the carnival.
Clifton explained, saying, “The youth club doesn’t have much money to begin with, so we had to come up with a way to raise money for uniforms for both our players and cheerleaders. We thought this carnival would be a great way to do so, and we are excited to host it.”
The Football Season Kickoff Carnival will begin at 10 am on Saturday and will conclude at 6 pm. The punt, pass, and kick competition will start at noon, and the hot dog eating competition will kick off shortly after that.
Those attending the carnival will also be pleased to hear that after the carnival concludes at 6 pm, it will be time for “Meet the Warriors” where players and cheerleaders from both the youth club and high school team this upcoming season will be introduced to fans.
