FROM STAFF REPORTS
The Elizabethton Parks and Recreation Department held its first ‘Introduction to Pickleball’ session on July 17 and it was a huge success.
A large group of individuals came ready to learn and play this new form of recreation in Elizabethton. A special thank you to Pickleball Pro Gigi LeMaster for her personal donation of the pickleball paddles for the Elizabethton Park and Rec Department to use.
LeMaster is a USAPA pickleball ambassador, 2-time Pickleball Hall of Fame Nominee, 12-time Nationals Medalist, 6-time US Open Champion, and 2-time Gold medalist TOC (Tournament of Champions).
Future introduction sessions will be held each month and are currently scheduled for the following Saturdays: July 31st, Aug 28th, and Sept 11th.
The Park and Recreation Department is also introducing Open Rec play that will be every Tuesday and Thursday morning from 9 am to 11 am at the Parks and Rec gymnasium, which is located at 300 W. Mill Street.
This will be for all players beginning Tuesday, July 27th.
Michele Zoerb will lead the introductory sessions as well as be on-site to facilitate the open play on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
