Helen L. Davis, age 90, of Hampton, Tennessee went home to be with the Lord on Friday, May 14, 2021, at her residence. Helen was born in Carter County to the late Jacob B. Lunceford and Maymie Banner Lunceford. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Herman Davis; a brother, Freamon Lunsford; two sisters, Beulah Cordell and Bonnie Miller; and a son-in-law, Jackie Lee Taylor.
Helen was a very meticulous housewife and a devout Christian lady. She was proud of being a veteran’s wife and was a wonderful and devoted mother. She was a member of Rittertown Baptist Church for close to 50 years. She had worked at the old Carter County Memorial Hospital in Elizabethton as a housekeeper until she met her husband and became a housewife. Helen enjoyed making and painting ceramics, cooking and baking but above all else, she loved her family and her grandchildren.
Those left to cherish her many wonderful memories include her son, Kevin Scott Davis, of Hampton; her daughter, Vicky Lynn Taylor, of Jonesborough; her grandchildren, Harley Cheyenne Davis, of Elizabethton, Misty Dawn Dean, of Simpsonville, SC, Joshua Ashley Estep, of Houston, TX and Justin Lee Taylor, of Simpsonville, SC. Several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors also survive.
A service to celebrate the life of Helen L. Davis will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Sunday, May 16, 2021, in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton with Pastor Richard Stout, officiating.
The graveside service will follow at Rittertown Baptist Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Those wishing to attend the service are asked to meet at Tetrick of Elizabethton on Sunday to go in procession to the cemetery.
Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers, may make donations to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105 in honor of Helen L. Davis.
The family would like to thank Pastor Richard Stout and members of Rittertown Baptist Church for the food, care, support and prayers given to the family during this time of loss.
