First annual Music and Miles Half Marathon huge success

With the first annual Music and Miles Half Marathon in the books, organizers and participants are already in a count-down mode to the 2022 race after this weekend’s race proved to be a huge success.
Elizabethton Federal Savings Bank sponsored the event in conjunction with Goose Chase which sponsors The Bluegrass Half Marathon and Haunted Half 13 along with the Music and Miles as part of the Trifecta.
The Elizabethton / Carter County Chamber of Commerce also had a big hand in putting the marathon on which featured runners racing 13.1 miles solo, in relay teams, or in shorter distances completing the course ran throughout Elizabethton.
Along the route, different genres of music could be heard as runners mustered through the course.
“We had a great time welcoming over 350 runners to the first Music and Miles marathon,” said Chamber Executive Director Joy McCray. “A special thanks to The Goose Chase for bringing this event to Elizabethton, main sponsor-Elizabethton Federal, and my personal thanks to the coordination of City of Elizabethton Parks and Rec and Downtown Elizabethton Main Street in helping make this event a success.
“We have every indication that this will be an annual event and we can’t wait to see all our half-marathon friends again next year.”
There were 230 entrants in the half marathon portion of the race. In the four-man relay, 13 teams participated and in the two-man relays, there were 21 entries.
