Elizabethton head coach Ryan Presnell has never been the one to want the spotlight to shine on him -whether on or off the field electing to point the praise to God and those around him.

However, on Monday night Presnell’s team presented him with win number 100 as the skipper at the helm of the Elizabethton High School baseball team and deserves a pat on the back for helping put Cyclone baseball on the map in the state of Tennessee.

The Cyclones jumped out quick in the first inning and never looked back to cruise to a 14-2 Three Rivers Conference win over Sullivan Central to run their season overall record to 12-3.

Starting pitcher Ashton Wilson had all the support he needed as the Cyclones were led by shortstop Bryson Rollins who collected four hits in the contest – all singles, as the Cyclone bats were on fire behind a stellar effort from Wilson.

Rollins also turned in a defensive gem backhanding a ball hit deep in the hole between short and third base and throwing a strike off-balance to retire the Cougar batter.

The Cyclones also got an inside-the-park home run from left fielder Elijah Birdsong and a couple of gifts when the Cougars couldn’t field high fly balls in the infield.

Elizabethton collected 10 base hits in the game as first baseman Noah Rosato also had a multi-hit contest with two hits in four at-bats. Jaden Anderson, Gage Treadway, Padraig Murphy, and Birdsong had the other solo hits in the game.

Wilson pitched the complete game, five-inning affair giving up two runs on four hits with seven strikeouts and one base on balls to pick up the win.

The Cyclones tallied five extra-base hits in the game as Murphy and Treadway banged out doubles, Rosato and Anderson a triple apiece, and Birdsong the home run.

Central sent three pitchers to the mound but Elizabethton carried too much offense to be kept off the base path.

Tate, Wampler, Stabus, and Stanley collected the four hits that Central logged on the evening.

Both teams squared off again on Tuesday in the back-to-back game format being played by the conference.
