FROM STAFF REPORTS
The Unaka Rangers made the road trip to Blountville looking to pick up a pre-Easter win over the Sullivan Central Cougars in prep baseball play.

Even though the game didn’t provide the outcome the Rangers were looking for, the game was closely contested as the Cougars managed to take a 4-0 win over their visitors from Stoney Creek.

Both starting pitchers Hunter Stanley of Central and Landon Ramsey of Unaka were getting the job done on the pitching rubber with a little help from their defense to keep their opponents off the scoreboard.

Central managed to get rolling in the bottom of the third inning to hang three runs on their side of the scoreboard with two outs.

Carter Hibbs reached on a fielder’s choice and advanced to second on a wild pitch by Ramsey. Carson Tate followed with a single while Stanley worked a walk out of five pitches.

Logan Bowers laced a single and Jacob Bombailey was hit by a pitch as Central took advantage to take the 3-0 lead.

Central added a solo run in the bottom of the fourth to seal their win.

Ramsey led the Rangers at the plate going 2-for-3 on the day while Lucas Carr added a 2-for-4 effort. Michael Duvall and Gavin Seigfried added one hit apiece on the afternoon as well.
