Which of the following statements are true?
• In less than 30 years, there will be more pounds of plastic in the ocean than pounds of fish.
• 51.2B pieces of litter are tossed onto American roadways annually.
Unfortunately, these are both true, but, when you support Keep America Beautiful and Keep Carter County Beautiful, you’re taking steps towards creating cleaner, greener, more beautiful communities across the United States. Just in the past year, our volunteers cleared 60,000 pounds of litter from our streets, parks, and waterways.
Here’s another quiz for you: which of these statements are true?
• Paper, metal, and glass litter have decreased steadily as recycling has surged.
• Over 86,000 people have taken the #BeRecycled pledge.
You guessed it — they are both true. People like you have supported the Keep America Beautiful mission for over 65 years — but there’s still much more to be done. We are taking steps to double our impact.
For the upcoming New Year please spread the word about what littering is doing not only to our community but to our planet! Please make this your number one priority and New Year’s Resolutions to stop LITTERING!
