According to Sheriff Ed Graybeal of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, a man and woman were arrested on Little Germany Road near the Nolichucky River Wednesday, Nov. 19, after holding a man against his will. Deputies responded to 349 Little Germany Road after receiving a call that a man was being held there by another subject and had been assaulted.
Upon arrival deputies made contact with a 31-year-old victim who said that he had been held there against his will, for approximately two days, and had been assaulted by a man and woman that live there. The victim had injuries consistent with the allegations. As a result of the investigation, deputies arrested 43-year-old David W. Smith and 52-year-old Sheryl L. Smith, both of 349 Little Germany Road.
They were charged with aggravated kidnapping and aggravated assault and are currently being held at the Washington County Detention Center on an $80,000 bond. Both are scheduled to appear in court later today. The investigation remains ongoing and more charges are pending.
