Shooting results in death of child

An early-morning shooting in Carter County resulted in the death of a nine-year-old female juvenile.
According to Public Information Officer Thomas Gray with the Carter County Sheriff’s Office, a call was received between 5:30 and 5:45 am from 121 Blevins Road of a shooting.
When officers arrived they found the deceased juvenile.
Gray stated that the Carter County Sheriff’s Office is actively investigating and working the case and updates would be released later.
