After months of campaign ads, debates at the local and national level, and door-to-door campaigning the day has finally arrived when votes will be tallied and winners of various offices will be announced.
However, it may take days and possibly a month or so for the final Presidential election to be settled with a ravenousness battle between current President Donald Trump and Democratic challenger Joe Biden continuing to rage leading up to the time the polls open for voters to flood to their precincts to cast their ballots for their candidate.
Other races that the STAR will be keeping a keen eye on is the local school board race to fill three seats from among five candidates – Phil Isaacs, Coach Mike Wilson, Jamie Schaff, Gen Treadway, and Jeffrey Bohlke.
Also, city voters will be casting their ballots for a four-year election of an Elizabethton Municipal Judge between Teresa Murray Smith and Jason Holly. Smith currently is finishing off an unexpired term of the deceased judge, TJ Little.
Also, locally three candidates are up for re-election to the Elizabethton City Council in current mayor Curt Alexander, Kim Birchfield, and Jeff Treadway.
From a state viewpoint, there will be results from the First Congressional District race to replace Dr. Phil Roe and a state senate race to replace Lamar Alexander who decided not to throw his hat into the ring.
A couple of state representative offices are also on the ballots.
Then obviously a very large turnout for the presidential election which might break records for the most votes to be cast for the office of president.
The STAR will be keeping its readers abreast of all the results from each race throughout its entirety until all unofficial totals have been made official beginning from the time local votes are tabulated until a national winner has been named.

The website will automatically update every few minutes as new precincts report in.
Readers are encouraged to visit the STAR website at www.elizabethton.com to follow the election results as they are updated daily.
Also, the STAR once again reminds everyone that the number of mail-in ballots has been extremely large for the 2020 election and that will create delays throughout the state as it will take larger counties time to count the large number of ballots that have been mailed in.
