The Cyclone 8 and 9-under travel teams closed out their tournament schedule recently playing at Domtar Park in Kingsport.
When the 9-under took the field for their first game, they were greeted with temperatures in the 40s, but there was no complaining as the young men took the field with a readiness to play.
The Cyclones jumped out quickly against the Bomb Squad and left a crater in the infield exploding for a 16-1 victory.
In the second game that followed the opening contest, the Cyclones found themselves in a battle against the Rebels needing a big rally in the final at-bat.
After showing off good gloves on defense, the Cyclones came to the plate and took a 12-9 win after getting their bats hot.
The semi-final game was a classic featuring every element of the game including great hitting, fielding, and base running.
With a see-saw affair throughout until the last inning, when in desperate need of three runs to tie the game against the East Kentucky Elite who led by three runs heading into the Cyclones last at-bat.
The Cyclones fell one run shy as they dropped the high-scoring contest 18-17 in the semifinal contest.
Walking off the field, the Cyclones held their head high knowing they left it all on the field.
