Lucille “Lucy” Orr, 78, of Roan Mountain, Tenn., went home to be with the Lord and those who had passed before her on Monday, October 26, 2020, from Johnson City Medical Center. Lucy was born in Carter County to the late Ben and Vina Carver Deloach. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant son, Robert G. Orr, and a brother, Lloyd Deloach.
Lucy was a loving wife, loved her cars and was known to have a “spit-fire” personality. She had worked at Baxter Pharmaseal and was of the Free Will Baptist faith.
Lucy was a past member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed shopping and having her hair and nails done. She loved horses and all animals and would feed them all — even the wild animals. Most especially she loved her cats, Barney and Little Bit, and her cows.
Those left to cherish her memory include her loving and devoted husband of 58 years, Robert Orr, of the home; two brothers, Louis Deloach and Luther Deloach; two nephews, Joel Deloach and special nephew, Skipper Deloach; and one niece, Angie Deloach. Several cousins along with many neighbors and friends also survive.
A graveside service to celebrate Lucy’s life will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, October 30, at Happy Valley Memorial Park with Pastor Roger Laws and Pastor Troy Davis officiating. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:50 a.m. Friday. The family would like to thank the nurses of the 4th and 5th floors at the Johnson City Medical Center for the exceptional care given to Lucy during her stay. Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations to the Carter County Animal Shelter, 135 Sycamore Shoals Drive, Elizabethton, TN 37643 in honor of the love Lucy had for animals.
