Safeness and spookiness go hand-in-hand this Halloween.
This year, the first annual Boots Off Halloween Costume Party will be kicking off.
The event was created by Boots Off Hostel & Campground, and is scheduled to take place on Halloween beginning at 3 p.m.
“We just wanted to find something for everyone to do that wanted to join in,” explained Jim Gregory, owner of the business.
Gregory described the campground, noting that there is now an outdoor stage/multifunctional platform included. This stage will be utilized for the event.
Gregory explained that the event is family-friendly and aims to promote both fun and safety. The outdoor event will include onsite trick-or-treating (anyone under 21 must be accompanied by a parent), games and a costume contest.
The costume contest will include the top 3 winners, which will be selected by attendees casting votes. Prizes will be included for winners.
Along with the festivities will also be live music and food. Performers will be Saul Brooks and Jefferson Cocker. Food will be provided by Simply Elegant. According to Gregory, this is a great way to support musicians and local businesses.
While the event poses many fun opportunities, Gregory stressed the goal of safety as well. He explained that for this event, the aim is to be a happy medium and not add to any fears related to COVID-19. He added that the fresh mountain air and larger space makes social distancing possible for those who wish to do so. Likewise, he is very big on everyone having a choice at this event.
In addition to potentially making this an annual event, Gregory also said there is a hope to get the word out regarding the business as well.
Tickets are $10 per person for those wishing to attend the event, kids 12 and under get in for free. Bracelets will be handed out upon arrival indicating those who have paid the fee to join the festivities. There are still beds available at the bunkhouse and campsites available at the property’s campground. Booking can be done at www.BootsOff.camp. Prices online include the party entrance fee.
This is also a BYOB event (beer and wine preferred).

“It should be a great time,” said Gregory. “The weather is looking to be great, and I just hope everyone has a great time.”
