While many would agree that a bad day on the lake fishing is better than a good day at any other location, the Elizabethton High School fishing team took what was a rough day of fishing and placed three boats in the Top 25 fishing a tournament at Cherokee Lake.
Hank Howard and fellow partner Chance Markland had the best showing of the day for the Cyclone anglers boating 5.84 of fish good enough for a seventh-place finish out of 255 boats that had taken to the water for the day.
“It was a super-tough day,” according to Howard.
Owen Wheeler and Spencer Winstead worked a 16th place finish in the event as they checked in with a weight of 3.8 pounds while Blake Tipton and Gavin Suthin etched their name into the 23rd spot with a final weigh-in 3.21 pounds.
The teams fish in the Bass Pro Shops High School tournament series and will take to the water again on November 21st when they travel to fish on the waters of Watts Bar Dam.
