HAMPTON – The Hampton Bulldogs have been rolling to win after win thus far on the season as since their campaign has started, they have not been bested.

However, the Bulldogs will face likely their toughest test yet as they go on the road Friday night to take on the Rebels of South Greene.

The Rebels, who are also undefeated on the year have faced similar opponents as the Bulldogs, the likes of Unicoi County as well as the Raiders of Sullivan North.

Bulldogs head coach Michael Lunsford first spoke on his team’s performance last week saying, “First off, I thought our passing game showed a lot of improvement. However, I thought we had too many mental mistakes that ultimately cost us by the amount of penalties we had and the fact that we turned the ball over two times Friday.”

When asked about his team’s gameplan for a tough road contest against the undefeated Rebels Lunsford stated, “South Greene is very explosive on offense and do a great job taking the ball away, so we have to buckle down and play assignment football on defense as well as protect the football to not turn it over.”

Looking back at his team’s performances on both sides of the ball in the past few weeks, Lunsford spoke on how his team could keep their success rolling.

“Well, we have a ton of guys that we can use on both sides of the ball, so we just have to use all the players we can on the offensive side of the ball. Along with that, we need to use all of our talent on the defensive side of the ball to shut down all of their weapons.”

There’s no doubt about it, this will be one game that will be filled with action and may even go down to the last second.

Kickoff between the South Greene Rebels and the Hampton Bulldogs will take place at 7:30 pm Friday night at South Greene High School in Greeneville.
