HAMPTON – Last week’s 33-0 shutout victory against the Johnson County Longhorns increased the Hampton Bulldogs winning streak to four straight games.

And the Bulldogs will be looking to make it five straight Friday night as they will host the Sullivan North Raiders in a conference matchup.

The Raiders are on the opposite end of the spectrum, as they are still winless this year, losing to the one conference opponent they have faced, the South Greene Rebels, 45-6.

On the season thus far, the Raiders have been outscored by their opponents by a total point margin of 136-22.

The Bulldogs, while starting the season late, have performed well with the four games that they have been given so far, with their latest game being a great display of defense as well as the usual offensive production.

Hampton’s defense in the road win against Johnson County allowed no points and limited yards throughout the whole game, but the most impressive display was when the Bulldog front seven held their ground for four straight plays on their own two-yard line to preserve the shutout.

Along with the front seven, the defensive backs for the Bulldogs also shone as their play was highlighted by a thirty-five-yard pick-six by Jonathan Greenwell to give his team a three-touchdown lead early.

On the other hand, the Bulldogs utilized the ground game last week very well due to the rainy conditions in Mountain City.

Hampton ran across the goal line three times on the ground with the likes of Aiden Vines, Conor Jones, and Levi Lunsford in the win as the team exploited the Longhorn run defense.

It is safe to say that if the Bulldogs play with the same intensity on both sides of the ball as they did last week, then the Raiders will have a tough time gaining their first win of the season Friday.

Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m Friday night at J.C Campbell Stadium in Hampton.
