Zonna Bevita Myles Mathis, 50, of Elizabethton, Tenn., went home to be with her Lord on Monday, July 20, 2020, from the Johnson City Medical Center. Zonna was born in Carter County to the late Freddie Ray and Wilhelmina P. Mutts Turner.
Zonna was a loving wife, mother and grandmother that had a great love for her family and her church. She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church and will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Eddie Mathis, of the home; two children, Javier Myles and Shakreesha Lashell Myles, both of Elizabethton; her grandchild, Shawnrae Powers of Elizabethton; a brother, Demitrius Turner of Bristol, Tenn.; three nieces, Jazmyne Turner of Elizabethton, Monique Williams of Columbus, Ga., and Brandie Johnson of Connelly Springs, N.C.; two sisters-in-law, Amanda Williams of Connelly Springs, N.C., and Carnell Ferguson of Lenoir, N.C.; a step-brother, William Turner of Greensboro, N.C.; her aunts, Shelly (Jacey Augustus) Mutts of Elizabethton and Tina Mutts (Teena Bradley) of Johnson City; and her uncles, Jennsen Mutts of Johnson City and Forrest Mutts of North Carolina. A host of other aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, friends and neighbors also survive.
A service to celebrate Zonna’s life will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, July 24, in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Pastor Steve Wagner officiating. Words of encouragement will be provided by Nathaniel Watson. Special music will be provided by Forrest Mutts. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from noon until 2 p.m. Friday, prior to the service. Due to the current COVID-19 regulations, our staff is committed to taking care of our guests and families that we serve. Please understand we will be following the State’s COVID guidelines. We also ask all guests and family members attending visitations and services to please bring and wear a mask. A private disposition will be conducted at a later date.
