Gertrude Bishop celebrates 103rd birthday on July 7

Gertrude Hughes Bishop will be celebrating her 103rd birthday next week. She was born on July 7, 1917 in Sequatchie County, Tenn., and has been a resident of Elizabethton since 1941.
A graduate of Carson-Newman College in 1937, she taught school at Sequatchie County High School, Elizabethton High, Cloudland High and Happy Valley High.
Gertrude is the mother of Paula Bishop and the late David Bishop.
Her grandsons are Brian and Keith Bishop.
Great-grandchildren are Johnathan, Dustin and Kaelyn.
Due to the coronavirus requirements, the family and friends will celebrate at the home at 401 West H Street.
