Ernest Clay Oliver, 90, Elizabethton, passed away Thursday, June 18, 2020, at Hermitage Health Center.
A native of Keokee, Va., he was a son of the late James H. and Vergie M. Husky Oliver.
Mr. Oliver had lived in Elizabethton, Tenn., most of his life. He was retired from Tennessee Plastic in Johnson City. He had served in the Tennessee National Guard.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Patsy Rebecca Oliver; a son, Joel Wayne Oliver, March 2020; and his siblings, James, Wiley, Lester, Joseph, Rosalee Tribble, Ula Mae Oliver, Nancy Broyles and Pansy Brittenham.
Survivors include his son, Ernest L. Oliver, Johnson City; six grandchildren, Ashley Oliver Montgomery, Joel W. Oliver Jr., Amber Renee Oliver, Daniel C. Oliver,  Haley M. Arrowood and Maranda D. Arrowood; three great-grandchildren; his daughter-in-law, Marty Oliver; two brothers, Butch and Oscar Oliver; three sisters, Lola Sweeney, Barbara Grindstaff and Debbie Grindstaff; and several nieces and nephews.
The graveside service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Monday, June 22, in the Crowe Cemetery with Dave Younce and Carl Burrough officiating. Active pallbearers will be Daniel Oliver, Joel Wayne Oliver, Tim Williams, Tim Reynolds, James Lyons and Junior Guinn. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 2:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in memory of Mr. Oliver to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
