“New Way of Life,” a 12 step based, Open Recovery Meeting, will be held at noon at The Red Legacy, 210 S. Hills Drive, Elizabethton.

• Saturday, June 20

Rocky Top Gun Permit School will offer the enhanced handgun carry permit class at 135 Keenburg Road, Elizabethton, starting at 8:30 a.m. You may carry openly or concealed with this permit and is reciprocal in numerous other states. Ken Potter, a veteran law enforcement officer, is the instructor for the class. Rocky Top is one of the first schools to offer permit training and has been teaching the program since 1997. Cost of the class is $55. You will need to bring your weapon and 50 rounds of ammo. Potter says for those who haven’t yet purchased a gun, loaner guns are available.

PAL, a new support group for adults with loved ones battling addiction to drugs/alcohol, will meet at 11 a.m. at the Carter County Drug Prevention Coalition, 546 East Elk Ave., Elizabethton. The weekly meetings offer education, support, HOPE, and the knowledge that you are not alone. Roan Mountain Lodge #566 F&AM will meet in stated communication at 305 Conway Street at 7 p.m. All members in good standing are encouraged to attend. Visiting brethren are always welcome. Social distancing guidelines will be followed according to state and local authorities.
