Catherine Marie Schofield, born December 23, 1951 in Canton, Ohio went to her heavenly home on Thursday, June 4, 2020. She had been living at Sycamore Springs Assisted Living since June of 2015. Cathy was born to Clifton Schofield, of Clinton, Ohio, and the late Alice Lemon Schofield. In addition to her mother, Catherine was preceded in death by a brother, Kasey Schofield, and an infant sister, Karen Schofield.
Those left to cherish her memory include her father, Cliff Schofield of Canton, Ohio; a sister, Ruth Miller and husband Gene of Canton, Ohio; a brother, David Schofield of Michigan; several nieces and nephews; and a very special friend, Ella Peters.
The staff and residents of Sycamore Springs Assisted Living in Elizabethton became very close to Cathy and gave her excellent care. Cathy was a shining light to everyone she came in contact with.
The Lord’s church was her first love. She was a faithful member of Elizabethton Church of Christ. She loved working with High Rock Bible Camp and enjoyed trips to Dollywood. Her love for the children at High Rock Bible Camp encouraged her to schedule her two weeks’ vacation each year so she could work with the kids at HRBC. All the children knew Cathy would bring with her a trunk of candy and goodies to give to her kids at camp.
Miss Cathy retired from James H. Quillen VAMC in 2012 after 30 years of service.
A service to celebrate Cathy’s life will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 9, in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Mr. Roby Ellis, minister, officiating. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 1 until 2 p.m. Tuesday, prior to the service. The graveside service will follow at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Gene Miller, David Schofield, Dempsey Jordan, Ken Shepard, George Ellis, Dale Fair, Willie Holsclaw and Chris Jordan. Honorary pallbearers will be the elders and deacons at Elizabethton Church of Christ. In lieu of flowers, anyone may make donations to High Rock Bible Camp, P.O. Box 1454, Elizabethton, TN 37643 in honor of Catherine’s memory. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Ella Peters for her devoted friendship and care.
