Honoring Happy Valley High School’s Top 10 Percent

As graduates continue to walk across the stage, the Top 10 Percent of Carter County and Elizabethton High Schools continue to be highlighted.
Jennifer Ellis, the counselor at Happy Valley, compiled a list of the school’s Top 10 Percent.
According to Ellis, 12 students make up this list, with the first eight having a 4.0 GPA. Congratulations to Happy Valley High School’s Top 10 Percent!
Jaiden Clark
Clark participated in basketball and track. She was a member of the National Honor Society. She will be attending ETSU and studying sports medicine.
Chloe Donaldson
Donaldson participated in the color guard, the drama team, and played flute in the band. She was a member of the National Honor Society. She is the recipient of the UT Knoxville Volunteer Scholarship, and will be attending the University of Tennessee- Knoxville to study chemical engineering.
Jenny Donaldson
Donaldson was a cheerleader. She was also a member of the National Honor Society. She will be attending King University for her nursing degree and she will also be on the cheerleading team.
Claire Johnson
Johnson was a member of the National Honor Society. She participated in FCA, volleyball, track, softball, and cross country. She also served as a water girl, homecoming queen, and Miss Happy Valley. Johnson is the recipient of the Northeast Community Credit Union Scholarship and plans to attend both Northeast State Community College and UT-Knoxville.
Summer Nickles
Nickles participated in the color guard, drama and played saxophone in the band. She was also a member of the National Honor Society. She plans to attend ETSU’s Physicians Assistant School.
Hailey Pearman
Pearman served as the Junior Class President and participated in both key club and trust club. She was also a member of the National Honor Society. She plans to attend Northeast State to study nursing and become an RN.
Lainey Smith
Smith participated in the drama club, played the saxophone in the band, volunteered with the TLC Center, and Youth Leadership. She was also a member of the National Honor Society. She plans to attend UT Knoxville as a biology major, pre-med.
Dustin Stanley
Stanley participated in the band and drama team. He was also a member of the National Honor Society. He is the recipient of the prestigious Dr. Ed Perry Scholarship through the East Tennessee Foundation, and the UT Volunteer Scholarship. He plans to study computer engineering at UT Knoxville.
Grace Miller
Miller was a member of the Color Guard in the Happy Valley Band and drama team. She was also a member of the National Honor Society. She plans to attend UNC Asheville.
Larry Christopher J. Absher
Absher was the senior class president. He was in the National Honor Society and the Spanish Honor Society. He participated in baseball, track and cross county. He will be attending ETSU.
Kalee Lane
Lane participated in basketball, track and cross country. She was a member of FCA, HOSA, National Honor Society and the Spanish Honor Society. She plans to study exercise science at Milligan University.
Jeanna South
South participated in dual enrollment. She was a member of the National Honor Society. She plans to attend ETSU and major in social work.
