Karen Sue Simmons, 71, of Johnson City, passed away on Saturday, May 23, 2020, at the Life Care Center of Gray.
She was a native and lifelong resident of Johnson City and a daughter of the late James Simmons Jr. and Betty Anne Brumitt Simmons.
Karen was a member of Hampton Christian Church.
She was an animal lover and a people lover who worked as a caregiver for most of her life, a job that suited her golden heart and kind personality. She was outgoing and adventurous, ready for anything and wanting to try everything. Karen loved to see a smile, and will always be remembered for her humor.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three siblings, Auty John Calhoun, Manley Eugene Calhoun and Tina Stallard, and her two grandmothers, Winnie Simmons and Lucy Brumitt.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Kimberly Simmons Jones; three siblings, Mary Jane Williams, Beverly “Gina” Simmons and Danny Simmons; two aunts, Beverly Hagy and Betty Jo Glover; several cousins, including Luci B. Rudsill; many nieces and nephews; and special friends, Melissa Eggleton, Susan Bare, Fern Hyder Greenway, Judy Estep Allred, Marina Correll-Scherle and Sharon Doss.
