Honoring Hampton High School’s Top 10 Percent

With graduations underway, we are continuing to highlight the Top 10 Percent of graduating students from Elizabethton and Carter County Schools.
Joanna Orr, counselor at Hampton, compiled a list of the school’s Top 10Percent, numbered with the first being valedictorian and so forth.
The following are the high school’s Top 10 Percent:
1.Landen Richard Street
Landen Street is the valedictorian of the class of 2020. Landen was a member of the FCA, SkillsUSA, TSA, NHS, and Pep Club. He also played baseball and is receiving the Cody Montgomery Award. Landen will be attending Milligan in the fall to pursue Engineering.
2.Weston John Street
Weston Street is the salutatorian of the class of 2020. He also receives the “Best All-Around Male Award.” Weston was a member of the FCS, SkillsUSA, TSA, Pep Club, and National Honors Society. He played baseball and is receiving the Johnny Barnett Award. Weston will be attending Milligan in the fall and is majoring in Engineering.
3. Andrew Ryan Smith
Andrew Smith is the recipient of the Hampton High School Medal of Honor. Andrew is also the recipient of the Meritorious Service Award and the Math Award. Andrew is a member of the baseball team, NHS, Tusculum Talent Search, FCA, FBLA, Yearbook Staff, and Student Council. Andrew was voted Class President and Braniac. He is receiving the HOPE Scholarship, TN Volunteer Scholarship, and the Class of 1960 Scholarship. Andrew plans on attending the University of Tennessee-Knoxville and will be studying Communications and Journalism.
4. Emily Faith Markland
Emily is the recipient of the “Best All-Around Female” Award and was a member of the National Honor Society and Talent Search. Emily is attending Northeast State in the fall to major in nursing.
5. Cydney Amber Erickson
Cydney is a member of the Hampton High School Marching and Concert Band and a member of the ETSU TRIO Upward Bound Program, National Honor Society and STEM club. Cydney plans on attending ETSU in the fall to major in Criminal Justice and Mathematics. Cydney has received the following scholarships: Daughters of the American Revolution Scholarship, Eddie J. Miller and William “Bill” J. Olwell Scholarship, and the ETSU Faculty and Academic Scholarship.
6.Gage Andrew Clayton Chambers
Gage is a member of: FCA, National Honor Society, Pep Club, weightlifting club and is an all conference football player. He is also this year’s recipient of the Logan Andrews Memorial Scholarship and the Jeff and Mike McKinney Award. He has received scholarships to Bluefield College to pursue criminal justice and play football.
7.Clayton Spencer Holland
Clayton is a member of the marching and concert band and the National Honor Society. Clayton plans on attending Northeast State Community College and then transferring to Milligan College.
8.Hunter Scott Mignault
Scott is the recipient of the Science Award. Scott was a member of the football team, baseball team, National Honor Society, talent search, and the student council. He was accepted to Valdosta, but is joining the Navy.
9.Zachary Chase Phillips
Zach plans to study engineering and wants everyone to remember: “Time is money, money is power, power is pizza, pizza is knowledge!”
10.Elijah Keith Rhinehart
Elijah is a member of the varsity football team, soccer team, and a member of the National Honor Society. Elijah will be attending ETSU in the fall to major in Creative Writing and has received the Hope Scholarship.
