Registration is now open for the Miss Tennessee Hearts of Hope Pageant.
The pageant, which will take place on April 18, is an annual benefit to help and assist women of domestic violence.
The event is being hosted by Dancer’s Dream Performing Arts Academy. The organization’s director, Amy Shaffer Simmons, says this is part of her platform as World’s Miss Tourism Grand Supreme 2020.
“My personal platform is ‘Breaking The Silence To Live In The Light,’” she said. “Bringing attention, assistance and help to women who are in need after leaving an abusive situation.”
Simmons said that the organization will also be working with “Recovery Resources” to provide more assistance and collect specific donations to help women in need.
Last year the pageant donated over 3000 items to women in need, and items this year will be going to half-way and safe houses.
Additionally the event is also teaming up with the Little Miss Crowning Charm School where the students have a class platform called “Blue Line Buddies.” Donations to the school can be made through teddy bears which will be given to our local police, firemen and EMT to have with them for aid in comforting a child or adult in a traumatic or stressful situation they may encounter.
The pageant will have age divisions, from babies to adults aged 50 and up, as well as grand titles overall. Simmons said that both veteran pageant contestants and newcomers are welcome. Participants will be judged in formal dress or gown, and everyone does leave with a crown.
“Every contestant will receive a beautiful tiara, cherished memories, new friends and a warm feeling in their hearts from helping our community and those in need,” said Simmons.
Those wishing to enter the event can do so by filling out an entry form and submitting an entry fee of $45 to Simmons at ddreams2000@aol.com or by calling 540-392-9138. Door entry fees for everyone will be $5 or a teddy bear for the Little Miss Crowning Charm School. For more information on the event, you can contact Simmons or check out the event’s facebook page of the same name. Registration ends April 8.
“This community oriented event provides a wonderful opportunity for anyone, of any age, to participate in a fun charity pageant and help our community at the same time,” said Simmons.
