Stuart W. Dyer, 83, Elizabethton, went home to be with the Lord from his home on Sunday, February 23, 2020, following an extended illness.
Mr. Dyer was the son of the late Frank and Hazel Barnett Dyer. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Sharion Carroll “Shirl” Dyer; a sister, Charlotte J. Dyer Hinson; and a nephew, Randall “Keith” Gray.
Those left to cherish his memory include the love of his life, his wife of 58 years, Norma Jean Brown Dyer, his son, Terence “Terry” Dyer; two brothers, Steve and wife Vicky, and Michael and wife Janet; his sister, Pam Dyer Love and her husband Jerry; and several nieces and nephews.
Stuart was raised in church and loved the Lord. He had been a member of Zion Baptist Church for many years. He would say I don’t need nothing I have Christmas every day. He survived colon cancer and open heart surgery and diabetes. He loved his farm animals, cows, donkey and their dogs Mayicee and Venus. He was retired from Averitt Express, Gray, Tenn.
A graveside service to honor the life of Stuart will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 26, in the Dyer Cemetery (Cove Creek), Roan Mountain, with Dr. Alan King officiating. Music will be provided by Rebecca Osborne. Active pallbearers will be friends at the graveside service. Special thanks are extended to the Zion Baptist Church Family on Gap Creek Road, Hospice and nurse Emilee and Dr. Jeff Hopland, and CNA’s Matt and Skyler. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Street, Danny Ray Henegar, Bill Brown, Larry Brown, James Hughes, Jerry Love, Keven Gray, George Robertson, Jack and Frank Montgomery and Danny, Duane Forbes and Lee Birchfield.
