HAMPTON – The Hampton watched the University School Bucs take care of the Jr. Knights of Providence earlier in the day and knew what they had to do to advance to Tuesday night’s final against University.

Standing in their way, however, was the Keenburg Tigers who were also looking to gain a berth opposite the Bucs for a chance at the championship trophy.

In the end, it was just too much of the one-two punch of Co-Conference Players of the Year in Hampton’s Hayden Campbell and Dylan Trivett for the Tigers to endure in the Jr. ‘Dogs 55-31 win.

Hampton got off to a 12-2 start at the end of the first quarter behind Campbell using his imposing presence to score eight of the 12 points recorded by the Jr. Bulldogs.

That lead grew to 30-11 advantage by the intermission as Trivett took his turn by dropping in eight points in the second stanza with Michael Anspaugh pumping in six points.

Aiden Gross had four points in the half for Keenburg while Noah Gill registered three points.

The Jr. ‘Dogs kept up the offensive pressure in the second half to seal the victory for Hampton scoring 12 points in the third and 13 in the fourth quarter to keep the Tigers at bay.

Trivett and Campbell mirrored each other in the scoring column as the pair register a game-high 16 points apiece for Coach Dewayne Humphrey’s team.

Eight of the nine Jr. ‘Dogs that dressed scored in the contest.

Anspaugh finished with eight points while Chandler Smith added a solid five points to the win.

Grayson Young knocked down four points with a trio of Hampton players scoring a bucket each in Dominic Burleson, Elijah McKinney, and Elijah Church.

Gill’s 10 points were team-high for the Tigers while Gross finished with eight.

Isaiah Linberg scored five points for Keenburg with Travis Smalls and Devin Dugger tallying four points each.

The championship game between Hampton and University School is scheduled for 7:45 pm on Tuesday while the consolation game for third place between Keenburg and Providence will be played at 5:30 pm.
