Unaka falls to Cosby in prep hoop action

Both the Unaka Boys and Girls had victory in sight but both fell short to two really good Cosby Eagle ball teams.
Boys
Cosby……70
Unaka……66
Dylan Whitehead was sent to the charity stripe with 17 seconds remaining with a chance to tie the score at 65-all but the shot come up short.
The Rangers were forced to foul and Trey Johnson who had plagued the Rangers all night with his outside shooting and his ability to go untouched to the rim scored twelve of his 33 points and led the Eagles to a 70-66 win on Stoney Creek.

Ryan Sexton led the Rangers with 26 points, twenty coming in the final half.  Sexton, Austin Drew, and Devin Ramsey stayed in the game while
playing most of the fourth quarter with four fouls.
Whitehead finished the game with 16 points, Joe Slagle scored 12.
The Rangers led 15-13 at the first stop but were outscored 21-10 in the second. From there on they were forced to play from behind but had a couple of chances late to still put the game in the win column.
Unaka travels to Hampton on Friday night.

The Lady Rangers were primed to hand the Lady Eagles their first conference loss of the year leading at the end of the first three quarters.
Lyndie Ramsey led the attack for the Rangers with 16 points, 11 rebounds, and three block shots.
Unaka held Cosby’s all-state player, Brayln McGaha, to only four total points in the game all in the first half.
Cosby shot 24 free throws to the Rangers eight, making nine in the final quarter, for the come back 47-45 win. Leia Groat led Cosby with 13 points while Jada Whitehead scored 12 for Unaka.
