HVCU adds new app to help prevent fraud

Happy Valley Credit Union is now offering a new smartphone app called Card Valet, which gives members a variety of ways to monitor their accounts and control spending.

Users can get a notification any time their card is swiped, where it is swiped and how much it was swiped for, whether used online or in person.

HVCU thinks this will help their members, especially with preventing fraud. With Card Valet, members are allowed to cut their debit cards off and on. If a member is notified that their cards have been used, and it is not something they have purchased, they can cut their card off and begin the fraud notification process. No more fraudulent charges will be made to their account.

Members can set up spending limits, check account balances, and even select what types of merchants their card can be used at. Members can set up restrictions based on merchants. This app allows members who have children with accounts to set up restrictions on their activity. If your child is spending too much money, you can turn their card off.

This new smartphone app is a new way to help members better manage their accounts. Members that have a debit card and a HVCU credit card can set both cards up in Card Valet. This is a free service available to all HVCU’s members.
