National Public Radio, NPR, selects Meredith Roaten for internship

CONTRIBUTED — Meredith Roaten, Elizabethton, begins a prestigious internship with National Public Radio in January 2020. Her duties include: research, fact-finding, locating audio clips, writing and editing. The focus of Meredith’s internship experience is NPR’s Politics podcast.

Roaten is a senior journalism major at George Washington University in Washington, D.C. She worked last summer for SiriusXM Radio’s P.O.T.U.S podcast. She graduated with honors from Elizabethton High School in 2016.

Meredith is the daughter of Robin Mottern, Elizabethton, and Dr. Brent Roaten, Anchorage, Alaska. Her sister Hannah attends Elon University and brother Holden attends Elizabethton High School. Proud grandparents are Robert Kag and Tammy Mottern, Ginger Burleson, and Bob and Judy Roaten of Memphis. WETS-FM, the NPR station located on the campus of East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, operates 24-hours a day at 89.5 MHz in the Tri-Cities Tennessee/Virginia region.
