Shirley Virginia Salyers

Shirley Virginia Salyers, 81, of Bluff City, passed away on Sunday, December 1, 2019, at Signature Health Care in Elizabethton.
A native of Russell County, Va., she was the daughter of the late James A. and Lucy Coleman Mays.
Shirley was a member of East Side Christian Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ballard Salyers, and one son, David L. Hughes.
Survivors include her children, Debra (Gerald) Dollar of Bluff City, Arthur (Melissa) Hughes of Newton, N.C., Don (Karen) Hughes of Gray, Tenn., and John (Suzy) Hughes of Concord, N.C.; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one sister, Ruth Hughes of Abington, Va.; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the home of Debra Dollar, 301 Scalf Drive, Bluff City, on Friday, December 6, from 2 until 6 p.m. The family will also be doing a memorial service to honor Mrs. Salyers on Saturday, December 7, at noon, also at Mrs. Dollar’s residence.
