On September 5, 2019, there was a three-car crash on Broad St. at the intersection of N. Sycamore St., in Elizabethton. One vehicle struck the vehicle Amanda Garrison was driving, which Jase Garrison was a back seat passenger. The impact thrust their vehicle into the rear of another vehicle. Vehicle damage was disabling and if it had not been for Amanda using her seatbelt properly and Jase being properly restrained in his child passenger seat (booster seat, properly installed with seatbelt), they both would have received very serious injuries. They both were nominated and received “Saved By The Belt” Awards from the Tennessee Highway Safety Office.
