Threat made on social media toward Elizabethton High School

The Elizabethton City School system has received a threat via social media on Monday evening and as a result has reached out to teachers, students, and parents to make them aware that a threat has been received and that the school system as well as local law enforcement is working to identify the source of the threat.
Elizabethton High School will be on a regular schedule on Tuesday but parents and students will notice a heightened police awareness at the school.
The post has been shared on social media and the person responsible uses a vulgar tirade to advise that the school would be shot up on Tuesday, November 19th.
Parents and students were made aware that no threat is taken lightly by the school system regardless of where it comes from.
The Elizabethton Star will continue to monitor this situation.
