Gary “Wayne” Winters

Gary “Wayne” Winters, 70, of Elizabethton, Tenn., passed away Sunday, November 3, 2019, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital. He was born in Greenville, S.C., and was the son of the late Bruce and Florence Sims Winters. “Wayne” worked as a welder at Eastman Chemical for Worley Parsons Inc. He was of the Baptist faith, loved the Lord and reading his Bible. He also loved to spend time with his family and friends and enjoyed spending time on the lake, riding motorcycles and going to the Hampton Bulldog football games.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Bruce Allen Winters and Greg Winters.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Debbie Merritt Winters, of the home; a son, Martin Winters and wife Chelsey, Bristol, Tenn.; a daughter, Misty Winters, Elizabethton; three grandchildren, Ashlyn Winters, Andon Winters and Sage Milhorn; and two sisters, Karen Hill and husband Raymond, Butler, Tenn., and Cathy Alford, Gray, Tenn. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
A service to honor the life of Gary “Wayne” Winters will be conducted at 7 p.m. Wednesday, November 6, in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, prior to the funeral service, or at the residence at any time. The graveside service and interment will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, November 7, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be his fellow employees. Everyone will meet at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m. Thursday to go in procession to the cemetery.
