Steven Eugene Melton

Steven Eugene Melton, 71, of Elizabethton, passed away Saturday, October 26, 2019, at Cumberland Medical Center, Crossville, Tenn., after an extended illness. He was born July 18, 1948 in High Point, N.C., to the late David Vance and Helen Ruth Sams Melton.
Steven had lived his entire life in Elizabethton and was a 1966 graduate of Elizabethton High School and attended East Tennessee State University. He was a Vietnam War Army Veteran. Prior to his disability, he was a construction worker. He was of the Christian faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Steve Melton.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara; his siblings, Mike Melton and wife Barbara Ellis Melton, Brenda Johnson and husband David, Lisa Shell and husband Jeff, Glenn Allen Hatley and Scott Hatley; nephews, Marc Keene, Chris Stanbery, Vance Melton and Dan Melton; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
The graveside service for Steven Eugene Melton will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, November 1, in the Mountain Home National Cemetery with the Rev. Carroll Melton officiating. Military Honors will be provided by the Carter County Honor Guard. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Family and friends will assemble at the cemetery at 1:50 p.m. Friday.
