“New Way of Life,” a 12 step based, Open Recovery Meeting, will be held at noon at The Red Legacy, 210 S. Hills Drive, Elizabethton.

Thursday, Oct. 17
Water Aerobics Classes will be held at the Elizabethton High School Pool from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Cost is $7 per class or $42 for a monthly pass. Doors open 15 minutes before class. Classes may be canceled due to inclement weather.

The Hampton High School Class of 1953 will meet at Shirley’s Restaurant at 3 p.m. for their 66th class reunion. Former members of the years 1952, 1953 and 1954 or anyone who would like to attend are welcome to join us. For more information, call 725-3193 or 957-1552.
Rocky Top Gun Permit School will offer a handgun carry permit class at 135 Keenburg Road, Elizabethton, starting at 8 a.m. Ken Potter, a veteran law enforcement officer, is the instructor for the class. Rocky Top is one of the first schools to offer permit training and has been teaching the program since 1997. Cost of the class is $55. You will need to bring your weapon and 50 rounds of ammo. PAL, a new support group for adults with loved ones battling addiction to drugs/alcohol, will meet at 11 a.m. at the Carter County Drug Prevention Coalition, 546 East Elk Ave., Elizabethton. The weekly meetings offer education, support, HOPE, and the knowledge that you are not alone. Alzheimer’s Tennessee Caregiver Support Group will meet at noon at Sycamore Springs Senior Living, 1504 West Elk Ave., Elizabethton. The confidential group provides education, hope and encouragement to caregivers and family members of loved ones with Alzheimer’s disease or any related dementia. Participants can learn about community resources, share coping techniques and gain insight and feedback from others who understand. Hampton Lodge No. 750 F&AM, 509 First Ave., Hampton, will have their annual Thanksgiving Dinner from 4 to 6 p.m. The dinner will include turkey or ham, mashed potatoes, green beans, coleslaw, rolls, dessert and drink for an $8 donation. Everyone is welcome to come out and enjoy a great meal.
