Elizabethton Fire Department would just like to remind everyone in the city limits of Elizabethton that a burn permit is required to have an open burn. Due to the very dry conditions at this time, we are going to be very cautious in the issuing of permits. Based on conditions, this may change from day to day. If conditions continue to be dry and there is a lack of rain a burn ban may be issued for the city. To obtain a permit, for inside the city limits of Elizabethton only, please call (423) 542-5421. Anyone in the county must obtain a burn permit from the TN State Forestry by visiting www.BurnSafeTN.org.
