Cyclone boys finish second behind Science Hill on links

With district tournament golf play just around the corner, the Elizabethton Cyclones are continuing to prepare for the event by playing some of the tough opponents around even if it is larger schools.
On Monday at the Elizabethton Golf Course, the Cyclones participated in a four-way match with Science Hill, Daniel Boone, and Tennessee High as the Cyclones played well enough to take second place in the match just behind the Hilltoppers.
Science Hill shot a team-total 146 to Elizabethton’s 167. Tennessee High finished the day with a 171 while Daniel Boone wrapped up with a team-total 179.
From an individual medalist perspective, Science Hill’s Jackson Skeen shot a round of 32 to outpace the rest of the field. Jack Tickle from Tennessee High was close behind Skeen with a 36.
Cooper and Caleb Tipton from Elizabethton led the Cyclone charge as both golfers fired a 40 on the day while Carson Peters added a 43.
In girls’ play, the Lady Vikings of Tennessee High led the way in the four-way match with a two-player team total of 79. Boone and Science Hill finished second and third respectively while the Lady Cyclones finished fourth.
Elizabethton had a rough day on the home links shooting a 100 for the nine-hole match. Gabby Miller’s 49 and Hannah McDonnell’s 51 made up the Lady Cyclones team total.
